Abstract
400,727. Gas generators. WHITE, F. C., 51, Cwmavon Road, Blaenavon, Monmouthshire. July 4, 1932, No. 18917. [Class 55 (i).] In a gas generator of the kind described in Specification 201,385, [Class 55 (i), Coking &c.], in which a cokefilled converter shaft e is arranged adjacent to the fuel shaft d which is superposed on the producer fuel bed a, a metal chamber h heated by the fuel bed is provided in which steam is generated or heated, and from which it passes through a grid e<2> into the converter shaft e. In the form shown, water is supplied from a pipe j<1> extending to the heated wall of the chamber h. Carbon dioxide, producer gas, and the products from steam in the space c below the grate b, pass through heated coke in the converter e, in which the carbon dioxide is converted to carbon monoxide, and the steam from the chamber h is converted into water gas, the gases being withdrawn through an outlet e<1>.
