Abstract
464,032. Cracking and fixing gaseous mixtures. POWER-GAS CORPORATION, Ltd., RAMBUSH, N. E., and GRISENTHWAITE, A. T. Oct. 9, 1935, No. 27851. [Class 55 (ii)] In the continuous gasefication of bituminous fuel with steam and oxygen, the hydrocarbon and tar-containing water gas or semi-water gas produced is partly burnt with a limited amount of oxygen to generate a temperature of over 1000‹ C. at which temperature the gaseous hydrocarbons and tar are converted into carbon monoxide or dioxide. A heated cracking chamber may be used to which steam is also supplied to burn deposited carbon. The cracking chamber may be used to preheat the steam, oxygen or added hydrocarbon gases, the cracking then taking place in the hot zone of the generator. Specifications 13537 /09, [Class 122 (iii)], and 391,682 are referred to.
