Abstract

296,751. Johnson, J. Y., (I. G. Farbenindustrie Akt.-Ges.). April 2, 1927. Addition to 214,544 and 296,713. Divided on 296,713. Producers. - In a process of the kind described in the parent Specification in which a fuel gas is obtained by blowing air or steam and air through small - size ignited fuel with sufficient force to establish a strong agitation of the charge and involving the use of a grate of the kind described in Specification 296,713, the gasifying agent is supplied partly below and partly above the grate and the fuel-storage vessel is kept under the same pressure as the gasifying agent admitted. The apparatus comprises a producer A having a grate E, air being admitted partly by pipe 3 and partly through branch pipes 4, 5 and 6 and steam through pipe 8. By means of pipe 7 the storage vessel D can be kept under substantially the same, pressure as the gas in the branch pipes. Additional steam may be admitted through pipe 9 when it is desired to produce water gas rich in hydrogen.
