Machine guns.-A cartridge ejector comprises a longitudinally disposed lever 1, pivoted in the breech casing so as to be movable in a vertical plane, .and arranged in alignment with a groove in one of the locking lugs of the bolt and with a slot 6 in the boltsleeve. When the breech is opened, the rear end of the ejector lever is engaged by a lug 9 on the breech-bolt whereby the front end is depressed into engagement with the base of the cartridge case. On the return of the breech-bolt, the rear end of the ejector is lowered and enters the longitudinal slot 6 in the breech-bolt sleeve 5, lugs 3, 4 on the ejector engaging inside and outside the sleeve to prevent rocking movement of the ejector except at the fully open position.
