Abstract

681,676. Automatic firearms. VERWALTUNGSDES., DER WERKZEUGMASCHINENFABRIK OERLIKON. April 11, 1951 [April 14, 1950], No. 8451/51. Class 92(ii) A device for extracting and ejecting cartridge cases is mounted for transverse movement upon a longitudinally movable breech block 3, is provided with a part for engaging the extractor groove in the cartridge, and has its movements controlled by fixed cams during the movement of the breech-block. The device 9, of Figs. 1 and 5 has a limited sliding movement on the front face of the breech-block. and is urged downwardly by a spring 19 to bring its part 11 into engagement with the extractor groove. The ejecting movement is given to the device during recoil by a fixed cam 16 which is engaged by inclined faces 12 of the device. Further inclined' faces 13, by contacting fixed cams 18, serve to lift the device towards the end of the forward stroke of the breech-block. In Fig. 6, the combined extractor and ejector is in the form of a spring-controlled lever 21 which receives the necessary movements for extracting and ejecting by the faces 26, 27, 30 of a cam fixed to the breech casing. Figs. 7-10 (not shown), illustrate a modification somewhat similar to that shown in Fig. 6, but showing a different arrangement of springs acting on the lever.
