Abstract

Secondary disazo dyes are prepared by coupling a sulphonated, unsulphonated, or carboxylated monoacidyl phenylenediamine or naphthylene diamine with an aminonaphtholether or a sulphonic acid thereof, diazotizing and coupling with a 1 : 8-dioxy or -aminooxy-naphthalene sulphonic acid. In an example, 4-acetylamino-1-aniline-2-sulphonic acid is diazotized and coupled in presence of acetate with 1-amino-2-ethoxynaphthalene-6-sulphonic acid, the intermediate product isolated, converted into its sodium salt, diazotized and coupled in presence of soda with acetyl-1 : 8-aminonaphthol-4-sulphonic acid. Other first components specified are m- or p-aminoacetanilide, 3-acetylamino-1-aniline-6-sulphonic or carboxylic acid, benzoyl-p-phenylenediamine-o-sulphonic acid, 4-oxalylamino-1-aniline-3-sulphonic acid, and 4-acetylnaphthylene-diamine or its 2-, 6-, or 7-monosulphonic acid and further middle components are 1-amino-2-naphtholether-7-sulphonic acids and the corresponding methyl ethers. The products give fast, easily dischargeable shades on silk. Tetrakisazo dyes are prepared by using the urea derivatives of phenylenediamines such as p-diamino-diphenylurea, as first components in the process described above.
