Abstract

Monoazo dyes are produced by coupling sulphonated o-oxydiazo compounds with unsulphonated 1-naphthyl-3-methyl-5-pyrazolones containing no hydroxyl group in the naphthalene nucleus. The products yield fast orange, bluish-red, &c. shades when dyed on wool with a chrome mordant or when after-chromed. In examples 1-b -naphthyl-3-methyl-5-pyrazolone is coupled with diazotized 4-nitro-2-aminophenol-6-sulphonic acid or the barium salt of naphthalene-1 : 2-diazo-oxide-4 : 6-disulphonic acid; 1-a -naphthyl-3-methyl-5-pyrazolone is coupled with nitronaphthalene-1 : 2-diazo-oxide-4-sulphonic acid.
