Abstract

Monoazo dyes are made by coupling a diazotized 2-aminophenol which contains a negative substituent, but no SO3H or COOH group with a monosulphonic acid of 1-(1<1>- or 2<1>-naphthyl)-3-methyl-5-pyrazolone. They are suitable for dyeing wool in orange to red shades with the aid of a chromium mordant by the single bath process. In examples, the following dyestuffs are described: (1) 4-nitro-6-chloro-2-aminophenol --> 1-(2<1>-naphthyl)-3-methyl-5-pyrazolone-6<1>-sulphonic acid; (2) 4-chloro-5-nitro - 2 - aminophenol --> 1 - (2<1> - naphthyl) - 3-methyl-5-pyrazolone-8<1>-sulphonic acid; (3) 3 : 4 : 6-trichloro-2-aminophenol --> 1-(1<1>-naphthyl)-3-methyl-5-pyrazolone-4<1>-sulphonic acid; (4) 4 : 6-dichloro-2-aminophenol --> 1-(2<1>-naphthyl)-3-methylpyrazolone-5<1>-sulphonic acid.
