Azo dyes, soluble chromium compounds of.- Dyeings fast to rubbing, light, fulling, and potting are produced on chrome-mordanted fibres by dyeing the chrome-mordanted goods with chromiumsaturated compounds of azo dyestuffs, the use of the chromium compounds of the leucotriarylmethane-azo dyestuffs described in Specification 104,743 being excluded. The following examples are specified. (1) Wool mordanted with a solution of potassium bichromate and potassium bitartrate is dyed a fast pure yellowish green in a boiling aqueous solution of the chromium compound of the dyestuff 5-nitro-2-aminophenol # 2-aminonaphthalene-6-sulphonic acid and sulphuric acid; the dyeing is of better fastness to fulling than that obtained on the unchromed wool and of better fastness to fulling and potting than the dyeings obtained with chromium compounds of other types of azo dyestuffs, e.g. the dyestuff 4-nitro-2-aminophenol-6-sulphonic acid # 2- naphthol or that from the nitrated diazo compound of 1 : 2-aminonaphthol-4-sulphonic acid and 1-(3<1>-sulphonamido) phenyl-3-methyl-5-pyrazolone. (2) Chrome-mordanted cotton is dyed yellow, fast to rubbing and light, in a boiling aqueous solution, containing acetic acid and Glauber's salt, of the chromium compound of the dyestuff 4-nitro-2-aminophenol-6-sulphonic acid # acetoacetanilide or of the dyestuff 4-chloraniline-3-sulphonic acid, # salicylic acid; fast blue dyeings are similarly obtained with the chromium compounds of the dyestuffs 5-nitro- 2-aminophenol # 2-phenyl (or p-tolyl) amino- 5-naphthol-7-sulphonic acid. (3) Chrome-mordanted silk is dyed with an aqueous solution heated to 70‹ C., containing the chromium compound of the dyestuff 5-nitro-2-aminophenol # 2-aminonaphthlene-6-sulphonic acid and acetic acid.
