Abstract

252,617. Johnson, J. Y., (Badische Anilin & Soda Fabrik). Nov. 5, 1925. Monoazo dyes obtained by diazotizing naphthylamine sulphonic acids and coupling, with diphenylamine are nitrated, with or without previous conversion into the nitrosamines. The products dye silk in a slightly acidulated boiledoff liquor bath, or in a bath containing soap and Glauber's salt, in yellow shades; they may also be used for dyeing wool, paper, and leather. In an example, a technical mixture of #-naphthylamine monosulphonic acids is diazotized and coupled with diphenylamine. The product is converted into the nitrosamine by means of sodium nitrite and is then nitrated by warming with nitric and sulphuric acids.
