Abstract
Azo dyes are made on the fibre by coupling a monodiazonium salt of an anthraquinone derivative, which as non-diazotized aminocompound has a blue colour and on diazotization does not undergo any alteration in its structure, apart from the conversion of the amino group into the diazonium group, with an acetoacetic acid arylide, an arylamide of a carboxyphenylmethylpyrazolone, or a urea obtained from a pyrazolone, the components being free from substituents which would render the products soluble in water or alkalies. Green shades are obtained on cotton and artificial silk, e.g. viscose. In examples the following dyes are produced on the fibre according to customary methods: (1) . . (4) 1-amino-4-cyclohexylaminoanthraquinone --> diacetoacetyl-o-tolidine; the 4-n-butyl, n-propyl- and methylamino derivatives are also specified as diazo components, (5), (6) 1-amino 4-phenylaminoanthraquinone or 1 - amino-4 : 4<1> - N - methylacetylaminophenylaminoanthraquinone --> 2-(4-acetoacetylamino) - phenylbenzimidazole, (7) 1-amino-4-phenylaminoanthraquinone --> diacetoacetyl-o-tolidine, (8,) (9), (10) 1 : 4 : 5 : 8-tetraminoanthraquinone --> diacetoacetyl-o-tolidine (copper chloride and chromic acid may be added to the diazo solution or the dyeing may be after-treated with these compounds), or the pyrazolone prepared from acetoacetic ethyl ester and the hydrazine from m-aminobenzoic acid-5-chloro-2-toluidide, or the urea from 1-p-aminophenyl-3-methyl-5-pyrazolone, (11), (12) bleached cotton material is padded with diacetoacetyl-o-tolidine or diacetoacetyl-p-phenylenediamine and printed with a paste containing diazotized 1 : 4 : 5 : 8-tetraaminoanthraquinone. Specifications 210,217, 210,347, [both in Class 2 (iii), Dyes &c.], and 374,951 are referred to. The Provisional Specification describes also the production of the azo dye 1-methylamino-4-(4<1>-aminophenyl)-aminoanthraquinone --> diacetoacetyl-o-tolidine on the fibre. 1 - Amino - 4 : 4<1> - N - methylacetylaminophenylaminoanthraquinone is made by condensing 1-amino-4-bromanthraquinone- 2-sulphonic-acid with 4-N-methylacetylamino-1-aminobenzene and splitting off the sulpho group.
