Abstract

An azo dye is made by coupling diazotized 1-amino-2-methoxy-4-nitrobenzene-5-sulphonic acid with 4-nitro-1 : 3-diaminobenzene. It dyes wool and silk in yellow shades and is suitable for dyeing leather, especially velour leather. According to the Provisional Specification diazotized methoxynitroaminobenzene sulphonic acids are coupled with 4-nitro-1 : 3-diaminobenzene, 1-amino-2-methoxy-5-nitrobenzene - 4 - sulphonic acid and 1 - amino - 2-methoxy - 4 - nitrobenzene - 6 - sulphonic acid being specified.
