Abstract
Monoazo dyes are made by coupling a diazotized o-mononitroaniline with an N-sulphatoethyl derivative of a p-coupling amine of the benzene series. They give yellow and orange colourings on acetate artificial silk, wool, silk and leather; they are also suitable for printing acetate artificial silk. In examples, dyes from the following components are described: o - nitroaniline, 3 - nitro - 4 - toluidine, 4 - chlor-2-nitroaniline; the N-sulphatoethyl derivatives of o- and m-toluidine, aniline and 3-amino-4-methoxytoluene. Other components specified are 5-chloro-2-nitroaniline and 3-nitro-2- or 4-anisidine. Specifications 181,750 and 237,739, [both in Class 2 (iii)], are referred to. N-sulphatoethyl derivatives of m-toluidine and 4 - methoxy - 3 - aminotoluene are made by treating the corresponding N-b -hydroxyethyl amines with chlorsulphonic acid.
