Abstract
Azo dyes are prepared by coupling diazo or tetrazo compounds with the alkyl-o -sulphonic acids derived from secondary amines, for example those obtained from aldehyde bisulphites and methyl- or ethyl-aniline. Those products which contain a nitro group in the para position to the azo group may be reduced with sodium sulphide to azo compounds containing a free amino group in addition to the alkylamino-o -sulphonic group. According to examples sodium ethylmethylaniline-o -sulphonate is coupled with the diazo compounds from p- and m-nitraniline and dinitro-aniline to yield dyestuffs giving red-orange, yellow, and bluish-red shades respectively on acetyl silk; they also behave as acid dyestuffs to animal fibres. Specifications 11343/99 and 200,873 are referred to.ALSO:Acetyl silk is dyed from slightly alkaline, acid, or neutral baths containing azo dyes derived from diazo or tetrazo compounds and the alkyl-o -sulphonic acids obtainable from aldehyde bisulphites and secondary amines such as ethyl- or methyl-aniline. The dyestuffs from p- or m-nitraniline, or dinitraniline, and sodium ethylmethylaniline-o -sulphonate are described. Specifications 11343/99, [Class 2, Acids and salts, Organic &c.], and 200,873 are referred to.
