Abstract

Azo dyes, copper compounds of. Soluble copper compounds are obtained by treating with copper or a compound thereof the azo dyes prepared by coupling one or two molecular parts of diazotized anthranilic acid or its derivatives, or one molecular part thereof and one molecular part of another diazo compound, with 5 : 51 - dioxy - 2 : 21 - dinaphthylamine - 7 : 71 - disulphonic acid; o-oxyazo dyes are excluded. The copper compounds of the following dyes are specified: a monazo dye from 4-chlor-2-aminobenzoic acid; disazo dyes from two molecules of anthranilic acid, one molecule of anthranilic acid and one molecule of 4-chlor-2-aminobenzoic acid, one molecule of anthranilic acid and one molecule of aniline; a trisazo dye from one molecule of anthranilic acid and one molecule of anthranilic acid azo-cresidine. The products dye cotton red-violet, blue, &c. shades. Specification 144,310 is referred to. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) describes also the copper compound of the primary disazo dye from 5 : 51 - dioxy - 2 : 21 - dinapthylamine - 7 : 71 -disulphonic acid, anthranilic acid, and 4-chlor-2-aminophenol; this subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
