Abstract

245,128. Carpmael, W., (I. G. Farbenindustrie Akt.-Ges.). Dec. 21, 1925. Azo dyes and soluble metal compounds thereof.-The azo dyes from diazotized o-aminobenzaldehyde, or a substitution product thereof, and the usual components are treated with hydroxylamine; it is not necessary to isolate the initial dyestuff. The. dyestuffs so obtained may be converted into metal compounds either in substance or on the fibre. According to examples monoazo dyes are prepared from o-aminobenzaldehyde and 2-phenylamino-8-naphthol-6-sulphonic acid. ]- ethylamino-8-naphthol-3 : 6-disulphonic acid, or 4-sulphophenylmethylpyrazolone, and treated with hydroxylamine hydrochloride in presence of sodium acetate; the products dye wool in brown, yellow and red shades which may be afterchromed or after-coppered : primary disazo dyes are prepared from 1 mol. 5 . 5<1>-dioxy-2 :2'-dinaphthylamine-7 : 7<1>-disulphonic acid and 2 mols. o-aminobenzaldehyde, or 1 mol. o-aminobenzaldehyde and 1 mol. anthranilic acid; and treated with hydroxylamine hydrochloric and sodium acetate: the products yield copper compounds which dye cotton directly in violet and brownish red shades respectively.
