Azo dyes.-A yellow azo dye, which dyes acetyl cellulose a fast non-phototrope goldenyellow shade, is obtained by coupling diazotized p-nitraniline with 1-nitro-2 : 4-diaminobenzene. The corresponding dyestuff from m-nitraniline gives only very weak dyeings on acetate silk, while the dyestuffs obtained by coupling the diazo compounds of aniline, p-chloraniline, otoluidine or p-aminomethylacetanilide with 1- nitro-2: 4-diaminobenzene give deep, but highly phototrope, dyeings on acetyl cellulose.
