Abstract

Monoazo dyes are obtained, either in substance or on the fibre, by coupling diazo compounds with o-alkyloxyanilides of 2 : 3-oxynaphthoic acid; the products are very fast to kier boiling, especially those which contain halogen in either or both components. In an example a red pigment dyestuff is obtained from diazotized 4-chlor-2-toluidine and 2 : 3-oxynaphthoic-o-anisidide; other examples are given of printing and padding mixtures containing as diazo components 6-nitro-2-toluidine, 4- or 5-chlor-2-toluidine, 4-chlor-3-toluidine, 3-chlor-4-toluidine, 4-chlor-2-anisidine, and 4-nitro-2-anisidine, and as second components the following 2 : 3-oxynaphthoic arylides:- o-anisidide, 5-chlor-o-anisidide (NH : OCH3 : Cl=1 : 2 : 5), 5-brom-o-anisidide. Specification 199,771 is referred to. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 6379/12 and 23732/13. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) refers also to the use of o-aryloxy-and o-aralkyloxy-anilides of 2 : 3-oxynaphthoic acid in the above described process. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.ALSO:Monoazo dyes are produced on the fibre, by coupling diazo compounds with o-alkyloxy-anilides of 2 : 3-oxynaphthoic acid; the shades are very fast to kier boiling especially when halogen is present in either or both components. Examples are given of printing and padding mixtures containing as diazo components 6-nitro-2-toluidine, 4- or 5-chlor-2-toluidine, 4-chlor-3-toluidine, 3-chlor-4-toluidine, p-chlor-anisidine (OCH3 : NH2 : Cl= 1 : 2 : 4) and 4-nitro-2-anisidine, and as second components the following 2 : 3-oxynaphthoic arylides:-o-anisidide, 5-chlor-o-anisidide (NH : OCH3 : Cl=1 : 2 : 5), 5-brom o-anisidide. Specification 199,771 is referred to. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) refers also to the use of o-aryloxy-and o-aralkyloxy-anilides of 2 : 3-oxynaphthoic acid in the above process.
