Abstract

338,672. I. G. Farbenindustrie Akt.- Ges. Oct. 10, 1928, [Convention date]. Azo dyes are made by diazotizing the compounds produced by subjecting mono- or di-nitrobenzoylated diaminoarylsulphonic acids to a slight reduction, such as is required to convert an aromatic nitro compound into azo- or azoxycompound (see Specification 313,636) and coupling with a coupling component. In examples (1) the reduction product from 1-amino-4- (4<1>- nitrobenzoylamino)-benzene-2-sulphonic acid is diazotized and coupled with 1-p.sulphophenyl-3- methyl-5-pyrazolone; the product dyes cotton vivid golden-yellow, (2) the product from 1 : 4- di(4<1>-nitrobenzoylamino)-benzene-2-sulphonic acid is diazotized and coupled with 1-p-sulphophenyl- 3-methyl-3-pyrazolone, acetoacetic acid anilide (yellow lake), 1-phenyl-3-methyl-5-pyrazolone, a-gammadioxyquinoline, a-methylindole or 2-(m-amillobenzoylamino)-5-naphthol-7-sulphonic acid; the latter dyestuff when diazotized on the fibre and developed with 1-phenyl-3-methyl-5-pyrazolone or #-naphthol gives an orange red fast to washing.
