Abstract
Azo dyestuffs are manufactured by coupling a diazotized o-aminophenolmonosulphonic acid with 11-(31 : 41-dichlorophenyl)-3-methyl-5-pyrazolone. The products dye wool by the single-bath chroming process in orange to red shades. In examples, the following diazo components are used: (1) 6-nitro-2-aminophenol-4-sulphonic acid; (2) 4-chloro-2-aminophenol-6-sulphonic acid; (3) 4-methyl-2-aminophenol-6-sulphonic acid; (4) 2-aminophenol-4-sulphonic acid. Other diazo components specified are 4-nitro-2-aminophenol-6-sulphonic acid, 6-chloro-2-aminophenol-4-sulphonic acid and 4-acetylamino-2-aminophenol-6-sulphonic acid. Specification 20276/00, [Class 2], is referred to. 1-(31 : 41-Dichlorophenyl)-3-methyl-4-pyrazolone is obtainable by treating diazotized 3 : 4-dichloroaniline with sodium bisulphite and condensing the resulting 3 : 4-dichlorophenylhydrazine with acetoacetic ester.
