Abstract

The invention comprises copper complexes of dyestuffs of formula <FORM:0796397/IV (b)/1> where X may be H or SO3H and R is the residue of an aminonaphthol mono- or di-sulphonic acid with OH o to -N=N-. They may be made by coupling anthranilic acid or a sulpho derivative thereof with an appropriate amino pyrazolone, diazotizing the product and coupling with 2 - ethoxy - 1 - naphthylamine or a sulphonic acid thereof, diazotizing the diazo dyestuff thus obtained and coupling with the requisite aminonaphthol sulphonic acid and coppering the product by a known method. The dyestuffs dye vegetable fibres in green shades. In examples, copper complexes of the following dyestuffs are made (1) 2-amino-4- or -5-sulphobenzoic acid --> 1-(41-aminophenyl)-3-methyl-5 - pyrazolone --> 2 - ethoxy - 1 - naphthylamine - 6 - sulphonic acid --> 2 - (phenylamino-) or -(31 - sulpho- or -carboxyphenylamino) - 5 - naphthol - 7 - sulphonic acid; (2) anthranilic acid --> 1-(41-aminophenyl)-3-methyl - 5 - pyrazolone --> 2 - ethoxy - 1 - naphthylamine 6-sulphonic acid --> 1-amino-8-naphthol-2,4-disulphonic acid; (3) anthranilic acid --> 1 - (41 - amino - 31 - sulphophenyl) - 3-methyl - 5 - pyrazolone --> 2 - ethoxy - 1-naphthylamine 6-sulphonic acid --> 2-(31-carboxyphenylamino) - 5 - naphthol - 7 - sulphonic acid and (4) 2-amino-5-sulphobenzoic acid --> 1 - (41 - aminophenyl) - 3 - methyl - 5 - pyrazolone --> 2 - ethoxy - 1 - naphthylamine --> 1 - amino - 8 - naphthol - 2,4 - disulphonic acid and the products used to dye cotton.
