Abstract

The invention comprises the complex copper derivative of the disazo dyestuff which is obtained by coupling tetrazotized dianisidine with 1 mol of 2-naphthol-3 : 6-disulphonic acid and 1 mol of 1 - (m-sulphophenyl) - 3 - methyl - 5 - pyrazolone and coppering the product under demethylating conditions. The two couplings may take place in either order. In an example, dianisidine is dissolved in hydrochloric acid containing sodium di-n-butylnaphthalene sulphonate and tetrazotized as usual; the naphthol coupler is then added, followed by the pyrazolone and the disazo dyestuff isolated. Coppering is effected with ammoniacal copper sulphate. An example is given of the dyeing of cotton reddish-blue with the product. Specification 635,621 is referred to.
