Abstract

Azodyes are formed by coupling a diazo compound of a N-acylcyclohexylaminoarylamine with an azo component containing a sulphonic or a carboxylic acid group or both. These dyes may be saponified to give further dyes and those dyes whose acyl group contains a diazotizable amine group may be further diazotized and combined with a coupling component. The products dye wool orange, yellow, brown, red, blue, &c. shades. The following dyes are described; (1) 1-(N-acetylcyclohexylamino)-4-aminobenzene (or the corresponding N-benzoyl base or its substitution products) --> 2-naphthol-6-sulphonic acid (or 2-naphthol-6-8-disulphonic acid); (2) 1-(N-acetylcyclohexylamino)-4-aminobenzene (or the corresponding o- or p-methylcyclohexyl base) --> 1 (benzoylamino)-8-naphthol-4-6-disulphonic acid (or the corresponding 1 (tetrahydronaphthalene-21-sulphamino)-8-naphthol-3 : 6-disulphonic acid); (3) 1-(N-benzoylcyclohexylamino)-4-aminobenzene (or its substitution products or the substitution products of the corresponding N-acetyl base) --> 2-(o-methoxyphenylamino)-8-naphthol-6-sulphonic acid (or other amino- or arylaminonaphthol sulphonic acids); (4) 1-N-(21-51-dichlorbenzoyl) -cyclohexylamino-4-aminobenzene --> 2-naphthol-8-sulphonic acid or pyrazolone sulphonic or carboxylic acids such as 1-(21-chloro-51-sulphophenyl)-3-methyl-5-pyrazolone; (5) 1-(N-31-aminobenzoylcyclohexylamino)-4-aminobenzene \sQ 2-naphthol-8-sulphonic acid; (6) 1-(N-acetylcyclohexylamino)-4-aminobenzene --> salicylic acid; (7) 1-(N-acetylcyclohexylamino)-4-aminobenzene --> 1-8-dihydroxynaphthalene - 3 - 6 - disulphonic acid and saponified; 1-(N-p-toluenesulpho)-cyclohexylamino)-4-aminobenzene --> 1 - 8 - dihydroxynaphthalene-3-6-disulphonic acid. Specifications 340,495 and 38820/29 are referred to. 1-(tetrahydronaphthalene-21-sulphamino) - 8-naphthol-3-6-disulphonic acid is made by condensing tetrahydronaphthalene-2-sulphonyl chloride with 1-amino-8-naphthol-3-6-disulphonic acid.
