Abstract

248,230. Carpmael, W., (Farbenfabriken vorm. F. Bayer & Co.). May 29, 1925. Trisazo dyes are obtained by coupling a diazo compound with a middle component, rediazotizing and coupling with a 1-amino-2-naphtholether sulphonic acid, again diazotizing and coupling with 2-amino-5-naphthol-7-sulphonic acid or a '2-arylamino-5-naphthol-7 -sulphonic acid, the third coupling being effected in the presence of pyridine, or a homologue or derivative thereof. Dyes are specified from the following sets of components :- aniline-5 : 6- or -2-4-disulphonic acid, a-naphthylamine, 1-amino-2-naphtholethylether-6-sulphonic acid, and phenyl-2: 5: 7-acid; aniline-3: 6-disulphonic acid, 1-naphthylamine-7-sulphonic acid, 1-amino-2-naphtholethylether-6-sulphonic acid, and phenyl-2: 5: 7-acid; o-toluidine disulphonic acid, a-naphthylamine, 1-amino-2-naphtholethylether-6-sulphonic acid, and phenyl-2 :5: 7-acid; 2<1> : 4<1> - dinitrophenyl - 1 : 4-phenylenediamine-2- sulphonic acid, 1-naphthylamine-7-sulphonic acid, 1-amino-2-naphtholethylether-6-sulphonic acid, and phenyl-2 : 5 : 7-acid; these products dye cotton greenish-blue or bluish-green shades.
