Abstract
280,320. British Dyestuffs Corporation, Ltd., and Baddiley, J. Sept. 7, 1926. Substantive dye processes ; monoazo dyes.-Regenerated cellulose materials, e.g. viscose silk, are dyed in level shades with the monazo dye obtained by coupling diazotized amines and their derivatives, including sulphonic and carboxylic acids, with 2-amino-5-naphthol-7-sulphonic acid or with its N-substituted derivatives. In an example, the material is dyed a bright red shade in a boiling dyebath made up with the dye from diazotized #-naphthylamine and 2-benzoylamino- 5-naphthol-7-sulphonic acid, with the addition of glaubers salt and, if desired, soap. The shades obtained on viscose silk with the following dyes are tabulated, the couplings being effected in alkaline solution except where otherwise statedthe dyes obtained bv coupling the diazo compounds of #-naphthylamine and 2 : 6-naphthylamine sulphonic acid with 2 : 5 : 7-acid; the dye obtained bv coupling diazotized p-chloraniline with the 2-ethylamino derivative: those obtained by coupling the diazo compounds of aniline, oanisidine, p-aminoacetanilide (the acetyl group being subsequently hydrolysed), and dehydrothioptoluidine sulphonic acid with the 2-phenylamino derivative: the dyes obtained bv coupling diazotized o-anisidine with the 2-p-tolyl derivative and diazotized p-chloraniline with the 2-oanisyl derivative (acid coupling); the dyes obtained by coupling the diazo compounds of pchloraniline (acid coupling) and 2-chlor-4-toluidine-5-sulphonic acid with 5-oxy-2 : 2<1>-dinaphthylamine-7-sulphonic acid: the dyes obtained by coupling the diazo compounds of aniline, #- naphthylamine p-nitraniline (acid coupling), maminobenzoic acid, 2-naphthylamine-6 : 8-disulphonic acid and p-chloraniline with the 2-benzoylamino derivative, and the dye obtained by coupling diazotized aniline with 5-oxy-2-naphthylglycine-7-sulphonic acid. 5-Oxy-2 : 2<1>-dinaphthylamine-7-sulphonic acid is made bv heating 2:5: 7-acid with sodium bisulphite and #-naphthylamine.
