Abstract

Monoazo dyes, which are monosulphonated and give on wool dyeings fast to light and to perspiration, are obtained by coupling a diazotized 3-aminodiphenylsulphone in acid medium with 2 : 8 : 6-aminonaphtholsulphonic acid. Specified diazo components are 3-aminodiphenyl sulphone and its 4- and 41-chlor and 4- and 41-methyl derivatives. An example is given of the preparation of the dyestuff from diazotized 3-amino-4-chloro-diphenylsulphone and of the dyeing of wool therewith. 3-Aminodiphenyl sulphones are obtained by reduction of the reaction products of 3-nitrobenzenesulphonic acid chloride or its substitution products with benzene or its homologues or substitution products.
