Abstract

266,561. British Dyestuffs Corporation, Saunders, K. H., and Goodwin, H. April 17, 1926. Addition to 242,061. Azo dyes are made by coupling diazotized 1- amino-2-oxy-3- carboxynaphthalene - 6 - sulphonic acid, described in the parent Specification, with sulphonic acids of mono- or di-oxynaphthalenes; the products are mordant dyestuffs for cotton and wool, and give shades ranging from reddish-blue to bright greenish-blue when chrome-printed on cotton. In examples, 1-naphthol-4 : 8-disulphonic acid, 1 : 8-dioxy naphthalene-2 : 6-disulphonic acid, and 1 :8-dioxynaphthalene-4-sulphonic acid are used as coupling components.
