Abstract

Trisazo dyes are made in accordance with the following scheme: an amine of the benzene or naphthalene series (which may be substituted by halogen, alkyl, alkoxy, sulphonic, carboxyl or nitro groups but no hydroxyl group) --> a p-coupling arylamine (other than an aminoarylpyrazolone) --> an aminohydroquinone dialkyl, diaralkyl or diarylether --> an aminobenzoylaminonaphthol sulphoric acid. They give bright green shades on cotton when diazotized on the fibre and developed, e.g. with 1-phenyl-3-methyl-5-pyrazolone. In examples, the following dyestuffs are described: (1) aniline-2 : 5 disulphonic acid --> 1-naphthylamine-7-sulphonic acid --> aminohydroquinone dimethylether --> p-aminobenzoyl-J acid; (2) aminoterephthalic acid --> 1-naphthylamine-7-sulphonic acid --> aminohydroquinonedimethylether --> p-aminobenzoyl-1 : 8 : 4-acid. Other components specified are 6-chloraniline-3-sulphonic acid, 5 - chloraniline - 2 - sulphonic acid, 2 - amino-4-sulphobenzoic acid, 2-chloro-5-amino-4-sulphobenzoic acid and 5-nitroaniline-2-sulphonic acid; 1 - naphthylamine - 2- or 6 - sulphonic acid, 2 - methoxy- or ethoxy - 1 - naphthylamine - 6 - sulphonic acid and 2-methoxy-1-naphthylamine7-sulphonic acid; aminobenzoyl derivatives of 2 : 5 : 7-, 1 : 8 : 4- and 1 : 5 : 7-acids. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 comprises also trisazo dyes in which the first and second components are not restricted as above and in which the end component may be an aminobenzoylaminobenzoylaminonaphtholsulphonic acid. H acid is specified as a first component and m- or p-aminobenzoyl-p-or m-aminobenzoyl-J acid as an end component. In an example, the following dyestuff is described: 2-naphthylamine-4 : 8-disulphonic acid --> 1-naphthylamine-7-sulphonic acid --> aminohydroquinonedimethylether --> p-aminobenzoyl-p-aminobenzoyl-J acid. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
