Abstract

Trisazo dyes are made as follows: aromatic aminosulphonic acid --> a -naphthylamine or a sulphonic acid thereof --> a -naphthylamine or a sulphonic acid thereof --> p-aminobenzoyl- or p<1>-aminobenzoyl - p - aminobenzoylaminonaphtholsulphonic acid. The dyeings may be diazotized on the fibre and developed. In examples the following are described: (1) aniline-2 : 5-disulphonic acid --> a -naphthylamine-7-sulphonic acid --> a -naphthylamine --> p-aminobenzoyl-J acid --> (on the fibre) 1-phenyl-3-methyl-5-pyrazolone (green on cotton), (2) metanilic acid --> a -naphthylamine-7-sulphonic acid --> a -naphthylamine-7-sulphonic acid --> p-aminobenzoyl-J-acid --> (on the fibre) 1-phenyl-3-methyl-5-pyrazolone (blueish green on cotton). Other first components specified are p-toluidine-5-sulphonic acid, 6-chlor-m-toluidine-4-sulphonic acid, 2-naphthylamine-4 : 8-disulphonic acid and H acid and other end components are the aminobenzoyl-derivatives of 1 : 8-aminonaphthol-4-sulphonic acid, H acid and g -acid. The Provisional Specification refers also to the use of aromatic amino compounds in general as middle components, cresidine being specified.
