Abstract

Azo dyes; mixtures.--Azo dyes suitable for dyeing leather in brown shades are obtained by coupling with m-phenylenediamine (1 mol.) the diazotized aminoazo compound (1 mol.) aniline--> 1 : 6--or 1 : 7--Cleve's acid or a technical mixture thereof and diazotized sulphanilic acid (about \ba1/2\be mol.). The products are presumed to be mixtures of a disazo dyestuff, viz. aniline-->Cleve's acid or acids-->m-phenylenediamine, and a trisazo dyestuff, viz. aniline --> Cleve's acid or acids --> m-phenylenediamine \sM sulphanilic acid produced according to Example 2 of Specification 371,866, and as compared with the products of that Specification have enhanced fastness to light and washing.
