Abstract

Secondary disazo dyes are made by coupling diazotized monoamines of the diphenyl series with 1-amino-2-naphtholalkyl ethers, again diazotizing and coupling with non-diazotizable 1-acylamino-8-naphtholsulphonic acids. They dye cotton in clear green to bluish greenshades and some are suitable for dyeing viscose, leather, paper and jute. In examples the following dyes are described: (1) 4-amino-diphenyl - 3 - sulphonic acid --> 1 - amino - 2 - ethoxy or methoxynaphthalene-6-sulpho acid --> N-benzoyl-H acid (green on viscose and cotton); (2) 2-aminodiphenyl-5-sulphonic acid --> 1-amino-2-ethoxynaphthalene-6-sulphonic acid --> N-acetyl-H acid (bluish-green on cotton). Other components specified are 1-acetylamino-8-naphthol- 6-sulphonic acid, N-benzoyl- or acetyl-K acid, 1-acetyl-, propionyl-, chloracetyl - or benzoylamino - 8 - naphthol - 4 - sulpho- or 2 : 4-disulpho acids. Unsulphonated 1 - amino - 2 - naphtholalkyl ethers may also be used as middle components.
