Abstract

Disazo dyes are made by coupling a diazotized mono-sulphonic acid of p-aminodiphenylamine or a homologue thereof with a -naphthylamine, rediazotizing and coupling with 2-naphthol-4-sulphonic acid. They dye silk in black shades which do not bronze and also have a good affinity for wool in a neutral dyebath. In an example, p-aminodiphenylamine-o-sulphonic acid and p-aminophenyl-p<1>-tolylamine-o-sulphonic acid are specified as starting materials. Specification 24527/97, [Class 2], is referred to.
