Abstract

299,349. British Celanese, Ltd., Ellis, G. H., and Olpin, H. C. July 20, 1927. Azo, anthraquinone, nitrodiarylamine, nitrodiaryl, and nitrodiarylmethane dyes containing #-ketoacidyl groups, for dyeing cellulose esters am obtained by heating the corresponding amino compounds with an acylacetic ester either in excess or in presence of a diluent, as naphtha, chlorobenzene, or naphthalene. The following dyes are specified : acetoacetylaminoazobenzene, benzoylacetylaminoazobenzene, 2 : 4 - dinitro-4<1>- acetoacetylaminodiphenylamine, 4-chlor-2-nitro- 4<1>-acetoacetylaminodiphenylamine 3: 3<1>-dinitro- 4 : 4<1>-diacetylaminodiphenyl, 3 : 3<1>-dinitro-4: 4<1>- diacetoacetylaminodiphenylmethane, 1 - acetoacetylaminoanthraquinone, 1 : 4-diacetoacetylaminoanthraquinone, and its 2-methyl derivative.
