Abstract

The invention comprises copper complexes of dyes of formula <FORM:0893882/IV (c)/1> where R is a dihydroxynaphthalene monosulphonic acid residue with one OH group o to the azo bridge, and acyl is acetyl or benzoyl. The dyes are made by usual metallisation processes from the corresponding 3, 31 - dialkoxy-, -dihydroxy- or -dichlorodisazo dyes which are made by conventional tetrazotisation and coupling processes. Specified dihydroxynaphthalene monosulphonic acids are 1,8-dihydroxynaphthalene - 4 - and 2, 8 - dihydroxynaphthalene - 6 - sulphonic acids. The dyes colour cotton in reddish-blue to greenish-blue shades. Examples are provided of the preparation of the dyes and their use in colouring processes.
