Abstract
4 - Chloro - 3 - isopropylsulphamyl - aniline is prepared by condensing 4-chloronitrobenzene-3-sulphonchloride with isopropylamine to give 4-chloro-3-isopropylsulphamyl-nitrobenzene which is reduced with iron and hydrochloric acid.ALSO:The invention comprises monoazo dyestuffs of formula <FORM:0897484/IV (c)/1> wherein B is the residue of a 2-hydroxy-3-naphthoic arylamide or acetoacetarylamide free from sulphonic and carboxylic acid groups. They are prepared by coupling diazotised 4-chloro-3-isopropylsulphamylaniline with a suitable coupling component. The dyestuffs may be used to colour paints, inks, resins, paper and textiles and in the mass pigmentation of viscose in red and yellow shades. In examples 4-chloro-3-isopropylsulphamylaniline (see Group IV (b)) is diazotised and coupled with 2-hydroxy-3 - naphthoic - (51 - chloro - 21 : 41 - dimethoxy - or 41-methoxy-21-methyl- or 51- or 41-chloro-21-methyl- or 21 : 51-dimethoxy- or 41-methoxy- or 21-methyl-anilide), acetoacet-2 : 4-dimethyl-anilide and acetoacet-4-chloro-2 : 5-dimethoxy-anilide. Other components are specified.
