290,720. Carpmael, W., (I. G. Farbenindustrie Akt.-Ges.). Feb. 16, 1927. Monoazo dyes.-The dyes obtained by coupling a diazotized dinitroaminophenol or substitution product or derivative thereof with an unsulphonated and uncarboxylated aminonaphthol dye cellulose esters and ethers in brownish-violet to black shades, fast to washing; the fastness may be increased by diazotizing on the fibre and developing with components such as 2 : 3-oxynaphthoic acid, m-toluylenediamine. resorcin, 1-phenyl-3-methyl-5-pyrazolone, ethyl-#- naphthylamine or #-naphthol. The dyes obtained by coupling diazotized picramic acid with 1: 5-, 1 : 6, 1 : 8, and 2: 8-aminonaphthol, and that from diazotized mathylpicramic acid (obtained by partial reduction of 2 : 4 : 6-trinitro- 3-methylphenol) and 1: 7-aminonaphthol are specified.
