Abstract
The invention comprises the chromium complexes of monoazo dyes of formula <FORM:0939023/IV(a)/1> wherein X is a simple or substituted sulphon-amido group and in which the benzene ring A may contain other substituents with the exception of sulphonic and carboxylic acid groups and further with the exception that the benzene ring A is not substituted in both the 2- and 6-positions. The dyes are prepared by chroming in known manner the monoazo dyes of the above formula which are prepared by coupling diazotized 4,6-dichloro-2-aminophenol with a suitable 1-(sulphamylphenyl)-3-methyl-5-pyrazolone. The dyes give red shades on wool, silk, leather, polyamides and polyurethanes. In an example the monoazo dye 4,6-dichloro-2-aminophenol -->1-(31-sulphonamidophenyl)-3- methyl - 5 - pyrazolone is prepared and treated with sodium chromosalicylate. Further examples are specified.
