Abstract
The invention comprises a dyestuff of formula <FORM:0796918/IV (b)/1> and metal, especially cobalt and chromium, complexes thereof. The metal free dyestuff is made by coupling diazotized 1-amino-2-phenol-4-sulphonamide in an alkaline medium with 1 - (31 - nitrophenyl) - 3 - methyl - 5 -pyrazolone. Metallization is effected in conventional fashion on the fibre or in substance, in the latter case preferably to yield 1,2-complexes. Mixed complexes in which one of the dyestuffs is of the above formula and the other of a different metallizable dyestuff may also be formed. The dyestuffs dye and print animal materials such as wool, silk, leather and synthetic fibres of polyamides or -urethanes. In an example the dyestuff and its cobalt and chromium complexes are prepared, the metal complexes being used to dye wool in yellow-brown and red shades, respectively.
