Abstract

1,134,947. Water-soluble metal complex azo dyes. FARBWERKE HOECHST A.G. 29 April, 1966 [29 April, 1965], No. 18968/66. Heading C4P. Water-soluble copper, chromium and cobalt complexes of disazo dyes of formula in the free acid state in which Z is one of the groups -SO 2 - -CH 2 CH 2 OSO 3 H or -SO 2 CH=CH 2 , m and n are 0 or 1 the sum of m and n being at least one and the benzene nuclei A and B being optionally substituted by further groups which may or may not be water-solubilizing are prepared by coupling a copper, chromium or cobalt complex of a monoazo dye which in the free acid has the formula Z, A and m being as above in weakly acid medium with a diazotized amine of formula in which Z, B and n are as above. Coupling may be at 0-15‹ C. at pH 3À5-6À5. In the examples monoazo dye intermediates are prepared. The novel complexes give greenblue shades.
