Abstract
The invention comprises 2:1-metal complexes (in particular chromium and cobalt complexes) of monoazo dyes, in which at least one of the dyestuffs in the complex linkage is of formula <FORM:1123948/C4-C5/1> wherein X is an hydroxyl or carboxyl group and R1, R2 and R3 which may be the same or different are H, halogen, alkyl, alkoxy, nitro, sulphonic acid, sulphone or substituted or unsubstituted sulphonamide groups. The dyes of the above formula are prepared by the usual coupling method and may be metallized to give 2:1-complexes. Alternatively, they may be metallized in admixture with a dye of the above formula or with another metallizable monoazo dye to give mixtures of 2:1-complexes. Finally, a 1:1-complex of a monoazo dye may be reacted with another monoazo dye, at least one of the dyes being of the above formula. The dyes may be used to colour nitrogenous fibrous material, such as leather, wool, silk and synthetic polyamide fibres, in green, red-blue, grey and black shades.
