The invention comprises chromium complexes of dyes of formula <FORM:0839931/IV(c)/1> where R is an acyl radicle, R1 is a substituted or unsubstituted sulphonamide group or an alkylsulphone group and Me+ is a metal cation. They are made by conventional methods from appropriate 1,1-complexes or dyestuff mixtures. Typical of dyestuffs specified for metallization are 4 - nitro - 2 - aminophenol--> 1 - acetylamino - 7 - naphthol, 1 - (21 - chlorobenzoylamino) - 7 - naphthol, 2 - naphthol - 8 - urea, 1 - methoxycarboxyamino - 7 - naphthol and 1 - propyl - and benzene - sulphonylamino - 7 - naphthol, 2 - aminophenol - 4 - sulphon - and sulphomethyl - amide and - ethylsulphone--> 2-naphthol. The alkali metal salts of the dyes dye wool, silk, leather and polyamide and polyurethane fibres in black shades.
