Abstract

The invention comprises metallized azo dyes containing bound to a chromium atom, two monoazo dyes one being of formula <FORM:0986655/C4-C5/1> and the other formula <FORM:0986655/C4-C5/2> wherein X is a hydrogen or chlorine atom or a nitro group, Y is a hydrogen or chlorine atom or a nitro or methyl group and X and Y are different from each other, R and R1 are benzene residues and Z is a chlorine atom or a nitro group. The dyes are prepared by reacting equimolar proportions of the first azo dye with the 1 : 1-chromium complex of the second azo-dye. The dyes are used to colour natural and synthetic nitrogenous fibres in red shades. Examples describe the preparation of the dyes. Specification 765,335 is referred to.
