Abstract

The invention comprises chromium complexes which contain less than 2 atoms of metal per 2 mols. of dyestuff of formula: <FORM:0795417/IV (b)/1> where X is Cl or Me which are made by treating the dyestuffs obtainable by coupling diazotized 2 - amino - 4 - chloro - or methyl - 6 - nitrophenol with an appropriate pyrazolone, with chromium yielding agents. Coupling is advantageously effected in a weakly alkaline to alkaline medium. Metallization is effected by conventional methods. The dyestuffs dye or colour wool, silk, leather, artificial nitrogenous fibres, cellulose acetate and polyester fibres in bluish-red shades. Examples are provided of the preparation of both dyestuffs and their use in dyeing processes.
