Abstract

The invention comprises 1. 2. cobalt complexes of two monazo dyestuffs, viz.: <FORM:0844873/IV (c)/1> and <FORM:0844873/IV (c)/2> where R1 and R2 are the same or different and each is hydrogen, halogen, nitro or alkyl, R11 is hydrogen, halogen or alkyl, and R3 is hydrogen, halogen or alkyl. The complexes may be prepared by treating a mixture of dyestuffs (I) and (II) with such a proportion of an agent yielding cobalt, that the resulting cobaltiferous complex contains less than one atom of cobalt per molecule of monoazo dyestuff. Diazo components specified for preparing (I) are 4- and 5-nitro-2-amino phenol, 6- and 5- nitro, -4 chloro, 2-amino phenol, 6 and 5 nitro-4-methyl-2-amino-phenol, 4, 6 dinitro-2-amino phenol, and 6-chloro-4-nitro-2-amino phenol, and as coupling components 1(phenyl-31-sulphonylamino 61 chloro or 61 methyl) -3- methyl -5- pyrazolone, and 1-(phenyl 31-sulphonylamino) -3- methyl -5-pyrazolone. Diazo components specified for use in the preparation of (II) are 4 and 5 sulphonylamino -2 amino-phenol, 2 amino -4 chloro -6-sulphonyl amino phenol, 2 amino -4-methyl -6 sulphonyl amino phenol and 6 chloro -2- amino -4 sulphonylamino phenol, along with coupling components, 1(31, 41 dichlorphenyl) -3- methyl -5 pyrazolone, 1 phenyl -3- methyl -5- pyrazolone, 1-(41-methyl-phenyl) -3- methyl -5- pyrazolone and 1-(31-chlorphenyl) -3- methyl -5- pyrazolone. The complexes of the invention may be used for dyeing wool, superpolyanide and superpolyurethane fibres. Examples are given. The dye-stuffs dye yellow to brown shades.
