Abstract

Azo dyes for dyeing cellulose acetate goods are prepared by coupling with methylaniline or dimethylaniline the diazo compounds of aniline, chloranilines, nitranilines, nitroanisidines, aminomethylanilines, aminodimethylaniline, naphthylamines, or aminoazobenzenes, or with the tetrazo compounds of benzidine, dianisidine, or diaminodiphenylmethane. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 182,830 [Class 15 (ii), Dyeing, Processes &c. for].ALSO:Cellulose acetate goods are dyed by means of alkylaminoazo compounds containing no sulphonic or carboxylic acid groups. Suitable dyes are those prepared by coupling methylaniline or dimethylaniline with the diazo compounds of aniline, chloranilines, nitranilines, nitroanisidines, aminomethyl-anilines, aminodimethylaniline, napthylamines, or aminoazobenzenes, or with the tetrazo compounds of benzidine, dianisidine, or diaminodiphenylmethane. The dyes may be employed dissolved in hydrochloric acid, or preferably they are dissolved in acetic or formic acid and mixed with water and a protective colloid. According to the Provisional Specification, aminoazo compounds or arylaminoazo compounds may be employed, for example, aminoazotoluene, aminoazonaphthalenes, aminoazonaphtholes, or aminoazonaphthylamines. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 182,830.
