Abstract
554,305. Dyes. SOC. OF CHEMICAL. INDUSTRY IN BASLE. Oct. 1, 1941, No. 12693. Convention date, Oct. 17, 1940. [Class 2 (iii)] Monoazo dyes, suitable for dyeing animal fibres such as wool or silk and for the preparation of lakes, are obtained by coupling a diazotized unsulphonated monoaminodiphenyl with an N - arylsulphonyl - 1:8 - aminonaphtholdisulphonic acid. Specified diazo. components are 2-aminodiphenyl and its 4:41- di-acetylamino derivative and 4-aminodiphenyl and its 4'-acetylamino, 2<SP>1</SP>:5<SP>1</SP>-dimethoxy, 3:21:51- trimethoxy - 6 - chloro, 3:31 - dimethoxy - 41- acetylamino, 41 - oxalylamino, and 2 - nitro - 41-acetylamino derivatives. Specified coupling components are the N-benzenesulphonyl, N-ptoluenesulphonyl and N-p-chlorobenzenesulphonyl derivatives of 1:8:3:6-, 1:8:4:6- and 1:8:2:4 - aminonaphtholdisulphonic acids. Examples relate to the production of the dye stuffs, (1) 2 - aminodiphenyl# N - (4<SP>1</SP> - chloro)- benzenesulphonyl - 1:8:3:6 - aminonaphtholdisulphonic acid, (2) 4 - amino - 4<SP>1</SP> - acetylamino - diphenyl # N - p - toluenesulphonyl - 1:8:3:6 - aminonaphtholdisulphonic acid. An example is also given of the use of the product of (1) for dyeing wool from an aqueous bath at 95-100‹C. containing sodium sulphate and formic acid. A table is also given showing the shades obtainable on wool with the dyestuffs from various combinations of components. Specification 22886/99, [Class 2], is referred to. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 comprises also the manufacture of similar monoazo dyes by coupling any diazotized monoaminodiphenyl with any N-acyl derivative of a 1:8-aminonaphtholsulphonic acid and specifies as additional coupling components the N - acetyl, N - chloroacetyl, N - carboxyethyl, N - benzoyl, N - chlorobenzoyl, N - methoxybenzoyl, and N - 4<SP>1</SP> - phenoxyacetyl derivatives of 1:8:4-and 1:8:6-aminonaphtholsulphonic acids and of the above aminonaphtholdisulphonic acids. This subjectmatter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
