Abstract

411,916. Dyes; dyeing. I. G. FARBENINDUSTRIE AKT.-GES., Frankfort-on- Main, Germany. Dec. 16, 1932, No. 35766. Convention date, Dec. 18, 1931. [Classes 2 (iii) and 15 (ii).] Azo dyes, insoluble in water, are made in substance or on the fibre, by coupling diazotised aminochrysene (obtained by nitrating chrysene in glacial acetic acid) with a coupling component, e.g. arylamides of naphthalene-ohydroxycarboxylic acids, 2-hydroxyanthracene- 3-carboxylic acid (see Specification 367,907), 2-hydroxycarbazole-3-carboxylic acid (Specification 343,164), and 2-hydroxy-alpha-benzocarbazole - 3 - carboxylic acid (see Specification 330,643, [Class 2 (iii)]), and acetoaceticarylides, e.g. bisacetoacetic arylides (cf. Specification 210,217, [Class 2 (iii)]). Blue to violet to brown shades are obtained. In examples the following components are specified : anilide, m-nitranilide and alpha-naphthylamide of 2 :3-oxynaphthoic acid, 1-(5<1>-hydroxy-1 : 2 : 1<1>: 2<1>-benzocarbazole- 4<1>-carboylamino)-2-methyl-4-methoxybenzene diacetoacetyl-o-tolidine and acetoaceticanilide.
