Abstract

Water-insoluble azo dyes are made in substance, on the fibre or on a substratum, by coupling a diazo or tetrazo compound with one or two molecular proportions respectively of a pyrazolone derived from an aminoarylthiazole. The following dyestuffs are described in examples: 2-nitraniline --> the 3-methyl-5-pyrazolone from dehydrothiotoluidine (in substance) and on the fibre using the following diazo components: 5-chlor-2-methyl-1-aniline, 2-aminoanthraquinone, 4-amino-3 : 2<1>-dimethylazobenzene and 4-benzoylamino-2 : 5-dimethoxy-1-aniline. Yellow to red shades fast to washing and light are obtained. The pyrazolones from dehydrothioxylidine and primuline are also specified. Samples have been furnished under Sect. 2 (5) of the dyestuff dianisidine \sQ the pyrazolone from dehydrothiotoluidine. Pyrazolones derived from aminoarylthiazoles are made by diazotizing monoaminoarylthiazoles, reducing to the corresponding hydrazines and condensing with an acylacetic acid ester, e.g. aceto, benzoyl or oxal acetic acid esters. Examples are given. Specification 26236/13, [Class 2 (iii)], is referred to.
