Abstract

230,043. Bayerische Motoren Werke Akt.-Ges. Feb. 25,1924, [Convention date]. Spray carburettors -To enable super. dimensioned aero-engines to be run for short periods on the ground with throttle fully open, as e.g. at starting, or in emer. gencies, the passage leading from the floal chamber a to the nozzle c<1> is fitted with a rotatable plug d having bores e, f, of different diameters. The bore f is comparatively small and serves to supply fuel during normal running at all altitudes. The larger bore e is brought into use for the special running conditions referred to above i.e. with the greatest possible output on or near the ground. The cock is retained in its seating by a spring and is rotated to vary the bores in action either by the hand direct, or from a distance through a Bowden wire attached to the handle g. The invention is particularly applicable to multi-chamber carburettors as described in Specification 145,648. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 177,197 and 196,197.
