Abstract

199,600. Verity, G. Aug. 16, 1922. Spray carburettors.-The casing consists of a T-shaped tubular body the horizontal portion 5 of which carries at one end a vertical cylinder 13 containing an extra air valve 12 actuated by a Bowden wire 14 and returned by a spring 15 and at the other end a similar cylinder, valve and spring 8, 7, 11 for controlling the mixture outlet. The vertical portion 2 encloses an adjustable member 1 with a conical bore arranged coaxially with the fuel nozzle 3. This member, by which the quality of the mixture is regulated, is moved axially by a Bowden wire 4 in opposition to a spring 6 in order to vary the pressure on the nozzle orifice. In a modification, intended more particularly for engines running at an approximately constant speed, the member 1 is moved by rotating a screw-threaded rod and the nozzle orifice is controlled by a screwed needle valve. In a further modification, the member 1 is actuated from the throttle valve 7 by a bar thereon engaging a nut on an extension of the member. In place of hand actuation the member 1 may be actuated by a governor.
